Presentation of the Centre
The Hospital Universitario La Paz, founded 60 years ago in the northern area of Madrid, is one of the largest hospitals in Spain. It includes four specialized centers: a general hospital, a children’s hospital, a women’s hospital, and a trauma center. With 1,200 beds and over 1,200 doctors, the hospital is dedicated to healthcare excellence through quality care, research, innovation, and education.
Main Research Activities and Facilities
La Paz is fully equipped for comprehensive cancer treatment, offering all medical specialties and advanced diagnostic techniques, such as massive molecular sequencing. It also has the capacity for all types of surgeries and cutting-edge radiotherapy options, including MR Linac and proton therapy.
Additionally, it provides medical oncology, hematology, pediatric onco-hematology, and palliative care. The hospital is accredited for advanced therapies and early-phase clinical trials, facilitating the study of new cancer drugs for both adult and pediatric patients.
Education
La Paz collaborates closely with the Autonomous University of Madrid, training over 200 undergraduate students and more than 600 resident doctors in all specialties. Its research institute, IdiPAZ, focuses on basic and translational cancer research, working alongside clinical efforts to drive innovations in patient care and ensure comprehensive support throughout the entire oncological process.
