Research & Clinical Trials
The Mid Western Cancer Centre is supported by its academic partner University Hospital Limerick. We provide high quality training to all staff involved in cancer care developing the next generation of cancer researchers, clinicians and health care professionals. Our Cancer Clinical Trial Unit conducts and supports clinical research studies that help develop new and effective treatments or new indications for existing medications for a variety of cancers. The team undertakes observational studies to evaluate the impact of new interventions in routine care. All studies conducted at CCTU are performed in accordance with good clinical practice guidelines. Our vision is to provide quality and accurate research to help advance treatments in the area of oncology, haematology and radiotherapy. Our goal is to conduct clinical research studies that help to develop new treatments for a variety of cancers and at the same time, help our patients discover new and effective treatments.
